Public Talk by Dr. Supi Yeoh: Implications of China Slowdown on Regional and National economies

The economies of both China and Malaysia are intimately linked. Two key facts point to this:

  1. China is Malaysia’s largest trading partner with a trade figure of RM230.89 billion in 2015.
  2. Malaysia is China’s largest trading partner among the 10 ASEAN nations.

These two facts have been held true since 2009. The speaker, Dr. Supi Yeoh will attempt to answer the billion ringgit question asked by many: how did the economic downturn in China affected the ASEAN region? More importantly, how did Malaysia cope with China’s economic downturn? What are the opportunities? When China’s economy “sneezes”, will Malaysia’s economy be catching a “cold”?

You can learn more about all these by attending Dr. Supi Yeoh’s public lecture organised by Han Chiang College. Admission is free but on a “first come first served” basis.
